The Great Winter Warm Up: Spreading Warmth and Cheer - Rachel B.

We are proud to announce that kids in the Watertown City School District will be warmer this winter thanks to the awesome coat giveaway we held the night of January 13 in collaboration with Fuccillo Subaru and Operation Warm. We are so grateful for this wonderful continued partnership that has allowed for another successful event and to the school district for connecting us with so many great families! Dubbed "The Great Winter Warm Up," the event took place in the gymnasium of Ohio Elementary from 5 to 7 pm. Each year, we love to kick off our event schedule with a winter distribution event because nothing brightens the darker months than the smiles of kids and their families when they receive items they are in need of. As always, it was so great to see all their faces as the children found coats in their favorite colors, hats and mittens to keep them nice and cozy during the winter, and even books to enjoy at home courtesy of the school district. Given that this distribution took place in the Watertown City School District, it came as no surprise that purple was among the top choices for the night. Collaborative efforts like this coat distribution align so well with our mission to unite communities, resources, and partners to address local needs, foster impactful programming, and enhance the overall quality of life, and we are very grateful for the continued partnership with Subaru and Operation Warm that allows us to continue these events. "It's always a great time coming out and seeing all the families we're able to provide with winter necessities, truly a humbling experience as well as a fun one I look forward to each year," said Ashley Weeman, a representative from Fucillo Subaru who has been with us for each distribution event we've held. Each year, Subaru and its retailers visit local shelters and support agencies to provide thousands of children with brand-new necessities as part of the Subaru Love Promise, Subaru's commitment to improving lives in the communities where its employees live and work, and national nonprofit Operation Warm manufactures the brand-new, high-quality coats and shoes for children in need. This collaborative effort not only provides essential warmth but also exemplifies the positive outcomes that can be achieved when communities, resources, and partners unite for a common cause. United Way has partnered with the Watertown City School District for its Food4Families backpack program over the years, so this event was another great opportunity to make a lasting local impact. "We are incredibly grateful for Subaru's generous donation of over two hundred coats to our community for our youth in our elementary schools," said Lisa Blank, Director of STEM Programming at the Watertown City School District. "The donation of these coats will ensure that our students can arrive to school warm and ready to learn through the cold winters of Northern New York." Approximately 140 children walked away with brand new coats Tuesday evening, and a number also received hats and mittens, as well as hot chocolate, books through the district's literacy program, coloring sheets and more – there were even some more physical activities in the center of the gym like magnetic fort building, Legos and self-spinners to keep kids entertained while their families connected with district representatives. Children arrived with their families and were greeted by the United Way's table, where they were signed in and received stickers before moving on to the tables lined with coats in a variety of colors, choosing their favorites and trying them out to figure out their fit best with Ashley from Fuccillo Subaru. Once this tough decision had been made, families stopped to sign the thank you poster for Subaru and then continued through the gym. With about 60 or so coats left over from the event, the school district will be distributing a majority of them to other students, and United Way will share the rest with community partners to spread the love and continue to work to make a lasting impact through this gift. This event highlights the power of community collaboration and demonstrates how we can make a tangible difference in the lives of children, and truly nothing beats the smiles on the faces of the children when they get their new items to take home!

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Watertown, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Fuccillo Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Jefferson County Dog Control & Fuccillo Subaru Loves Pets 2023 - Lindsay H.

Another fabulous "Subaru Loves Pets - October" has come to an end. Fuccillo Subaru's long-standing commitment to help shelter dogs in Jefferson County – especially the older, physically-challenged and “different” dogs that we affectionately refer to as “Underdogs” – get adopted. With Fuccillo Subaru's support, Jefferson County Dog Control is excited to share that we had 24 adoptions!! One of the goals for this October was finding forever homes for Starlett & her Galaxy Puppies: Sunnee, Comet, Pandora, Orion, Phoenix, Vega, & Faye. Starlett was found abandoned with her 7 newborn puppies in the City of Watertown early August. It's difficult to accept that any human would do something like this. These situations are why offices like Jefferson County Dog Control exist. Starlett's finders kept her & her puppies warm & safe overnight, so we could take over their care the following day. Six of the seven puppies found forever homes in the month of October (Comet was adopted in September). And Starlett is still looking for her forever home. By partnering with Fuccillo Subaru for the month of October, we are able to put the spotlight on a number of dogs that had been previously overlooked. Partnering with Fuccillo Subaru allows us to highlight individual dogs, bringing them more exposure thus, increasing the likelihood that they will find the perfect forever home. Thank you Fuccillo Subaru of Watertown!!!

Jefferson County Dog Control & Fuccillo Subaru Loves Pets 2022 - Jefferson County D.

This October, Jefferson County Dog Control partnered with Fuccillo Subaru as part of the Subaru long-standing commitment to help shelter dogs – especially the older, physically-challenged and “different” dogs that we lovingly call the “Underdogs” – get adopted. We are excited to announce that we have had 12 dogs adopted during this special month, four of which, were UNDERDOGS! One of these Underdogs was Arya. Arya came to Jefferson County Dog Control after local law enforcement called for our assistance with a matter involving a dog. Arya is a Great Dane and was found to be in such poor condition, that we took her straight to the veterinarian. According to AKC, a full grown female Great Dane should weigh 110 – 140 lbs. Upon intake, this sweet girl weighed only 46 lbs.!!! The first week of her stay with Dog Control was touch and go. She was dehydrated and required an additional trip to the veterinarian for fluid-therapy. Thankfully, after that first week, Arya bounced back quickly and with spunk! She quickly became a shelter favorite and spent a lot of time snoozing the day away in the office while greeting visitors. After many weeks of building up her diet to an appropriate amount, Arya is now over 100 lbs!! By partnering with Fuccillo Subaru for the month of October, we were able to put the spotlight on a number of dogs that had been previously looked over. By highlighting each of these dogs individually throughout the month of October, Jefferson County Dog Control & Fuccillo Subaru helped 12 dogs find their perfect, loving homes. And like Arya, are living their best life with their forever adoptive families.

The Future Hand-me-down car! - Erin P.

Last month, we celebrated our 3rd anniversary with our Subaru that will be passed down to the kids...well when my 8 year old is ready to drive. I own a 2014 Premium Forester and I love it and so does my family. Extended moon roof, no blind spots, traction that feels like tiger claws in snow, lots of leg room and storage. It's Subaru's commitment to safety is what I love most. Every day I know that the Forester is going to protect my children if the unexpected happens. Thank you Subaru for making road trips awesome. A huge shout out to Claude Loomis and the team at Fuccillo Imports in Watertown, NY. Claude did an amazing job helping me select and purchase my first new vehicle in 12 years. He did all the leg work and I was signed and out the door and into my Forester in no time. Claude was incredibly knowledgeable and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a vehicle. Thank you too to the awesome service team that keeps my Subaru in top shape. Everyone at Fuccillo Imports was and is amazing and should be commended for their awesome work. I love my Subaru!!!
